Casa Capricho was built in the latter part of the 17th century, making it over 300 years old and one of only four properties in San Miguel with its original 4-sided courtyard intact, resplendent with cantera stone arches, Moroccan fountain and 20 foot ceilings. It was once a working in-town hacienda, with cattle coming through the tall front doors…and more recently was a paper maché factory. In the mid-1980s Patricia Bubella, noted San Miguel designer, totally restored the property for the Legoretta family, the owners of Banomex. Most recently, in the autumn of 2006, two Los Angeles-based owners/designers re-imagined and redesigned the Casa with a brilliant mix of Spanish Colonial antiques and contemporary art and furnishings.
